About the Piece

In an age of fast fashion and overconsumption, I wanted to promote reuse of materials with an emphasis on handcrafted goods that are both meticulously crafted with artistry and offered at an affordable scale. This vintage-inspired art piece transforms a simple purple button-up dress into a wearable canvas showcasing the beauty of simple printmaking techniques.

My Artistic Process 

I locally thrifted this unique garment and carefully selected it for its excellent condition. Using traditional linocut block methods, I hand-carved each retrofuturist geometric design and stamped it onto the rich purple fabric. The mid-century modern patterns cascading across the skirt were all printed by hand using my custom linoleum handcut stamps, creating a one-of-a-kind piece that celebrates both sustainability and craftsmanship.
